Rawlinson & Hunter are.. er..

#1

Has anybody ever had any dealings with [http://www.rawlinson-hunter.com this firm] ? I have an interview with them tomorrow and confess that I know absolutely nothing about them. They don’t seem to pop up much in accountancy talk.

What’s with the website? I like the cartoon - but the point seems to make no sense. The guy turns “off” the light - but the quote is “a larger world revealed”. …easy to make jokes about the accountants being the last one’s to switch off the light in failed businesses. Good animation though.

I have absolutely no knowledge of this firm - sorry! I recommend a visit to the FT and a site search for “Rawlinson & Hunter” and a trip to Accountancy Age and a site search for the same. Also try other trade press, and national newspapers (Times, Guardian).

Good luck - as always, please let us know how it goes (and if you can, what’s with the cartoons?!)

Accountancy Age & the FT only have a brief mention each, alas. R&H seem to specialise in Tax (good for me) and Private Client Tax moreso.

The website is a bit naff, isn’t it? Splash screens are so 1990s. The careers section is really bad too. The ‘application form’ isn’t really one at all; I accidentally submitted a test entry because just going through the sections and clicking ‘Next’ will send off your incomplete application without warning you.

Hi Aethelwulf
Hope your interview went well.
I have an interview with Rawlinson & Hunter a week today (5th) and wondered if you had any advice or were able to help with the types of questions etc. that you were asked?

Hullo there. I thought my interview went well, but my services are apparently not required!

The interview was very straight-forward really. It wasn’t [[competency-based-interview|competency-based]], but rather just a run-through of your CV and chat. The usual questions about why R&H, why your service line etc. The company specialise in private-client work, so maybe talk a little about how you’re drawn to that. Mention some of the facts they’re proud of - that their per-partner-earnings are up with the Big 4; that they rely on networking rather than advertising to gain contracts.

I wouldn’t sweat it, really.

Hi, anyone been invited to the assessment centre?

Mines in a few weeks but not sure what to expect as no one has seemed to been to one at R&H!

They may have been 3 years ago

Anyone have any experiences with the paper based numerical test?
