Hi there! I have a phone interview coming up with KPMG for advisory and I was wondering what exactly kPMG defines as ‘commercial awareness’. I was speaking to a guy who interviewed with KPMG who is an LSE postgrad, and he was suggesting that I read more about China’s Black Monday, China’s growth now compared to Japan in the late 80s…all of which I thought was interesting, but perhaps a little bit off-kilter. I assumed commercial awareness was tested in the interview through the use of scenarios. Is it worth going into full, academic depth about other economic topics too?
My best advice would be to look at the “Seizes Business Opportunities” section on this page of our website: https://www.kpmgcareers.co.uk/graduates/how-to-apply/behavioural-capabilities#.VgARG99Viko. This should help in terms of your query.
