Deloitte Telephone Interview?

#261

Hey guys, had my telephone interview for Consulting today. The lady was again very friendly and the questions were straight forward.

  1. Why Deloitte?
  2. What will your day to day activities as a consultant be?

The conversation lasted about 12 minutes and was very pleasant. She said they would get back to me within 3 days but I got an email confirming that I had passed within 30 minutes which is very efficient.

Good luck all!

I thought I’d add to this as it was so helpful to me.

I got two questions:

  1. Why Deloitte?
I had 9 quite detailed points ready, basically what everyone else has said (added in the charity work they’re doing with the Olympics and specific Tax awards they’ve won). The woman, Maria, was really nice but twice she thought I’d finished when I hadn’t and I had to ask if I could go on. Slightly anxious about this as we were speaking over each other, but hopefully it won’t matter too much.

  2. What do you think the core activities would you be undertaking in your service line?
With this question, I asked her to specify whether she meant in general or in the first year. She said just in the first year so I spouted off my prepared answer.

The phonecall lasted 7mins, including me asking one question. My worries are that I sounded way too rehearsed (it was obvious that I was reading a script) and also I asked her at 3 separate points if I was talking too fast, just out of nervousness.

Fingers crossed and thanks to all who have contributed so far. Good luck everyone!

Hey

Has anyone recently sat the Deloitte verbal online test? I would be grateful to any experience / insight.

Cheers

x

Hi Ivanah,
I sat the numerical and verbal tests two weeks ago (hope it means “recently”) and would have the tel interview tomorrow (yes, online tests before tel telephone interview). The verbal test is by SHL and would be the most frequent articles (if you have done it with other companies), like the water surface tension, location of charity shop, inheritance of short-sightedness etc.
Personally, I don’t think it’s too difficult. Though I didn’t feel good when finished, I passed it. So take it easy.
Good luck!

Don’t worry about the online tests, work quickly but accurately. The verbal reasoning passages are fairly straight forward

Thanks Yingyand and Staussy

Passed Deloitte online tests. I just booked my telephone interview.

This thread is pretty comprehensive with telephone interview experiences but I wonder if anyone has had one recently and how it went? questions asked? etc

@Ivanah

I just had my telephine interview at 3pm today.

2 questions - 1) why deloitte and 2) What do you think the day to day activites will be in your chosen service line?

total interview lasted exactly 8mins and about 3 of them was explaining what the interview was about at the begininng and then the next stage at the end.

honestly, it is nothing to stress about at all. be confident in your answers. about 5 mins after i got and email saying i had passed.

Hey no problem, I believe the telephone interview questions haven’t changed much. All the best! Which service line are you applying for?

#270

Thanks Jmsrowley

Congratulations. That sounds reassuring. I will book an interview for the ealiest slot.

Staussy, I am applying for Audit.

Jms what serviceline are you applying for?

Had telephone interview with deloitte:
lasted 15 mins but was only asked 2 questions:
-Why deloitte?
-What do you think you’ll be doing in audit?

Then I was asked if I had any questions, and I think they really expect you to have some questions… that was about half the call.

Then as everyone else has said, they tell you they will get back in touch within 3 working days, but I had an email from them within about 3 minutes of the end of the call.

You’re really just expanding on what you said in the application form; if you named some clients in the application form, then know some others for the interview…
