hi supremedee, hi everyone!

can you tell me whether the online test is scheduled on a fixed date after you finished the application form? or is it up to you when you take the online test?

thanks a lot!

#63

Hey,
Hope everyone’s getting on OK with this whole process!

I have my test to complete by tomorrow and would really appreciate any help!
Hoe many qus are in each section?
Is the verbal reasoning section the whole true/false/cant say style?

Good luck to everyone!
And thank you for any help!

hi tmc

In the test there are two sections.

1st section is verbal based where BP wants to assess your level of english. Really easy stuff. You get a passage one paragraph long and they ask you some qs on the passage to see if you can understand the meaning of words when they’re usd in a certain context. Also asked is whether something is true/false or you can’t tell based on what’s given in the passage. this sections is not difficult don’t worry.

the numerical part is pretty straight forward too qs based on percentages/ratios/basic probability. on thing is you might not be able to complete all qs given as time is somewhat limited. don’t worry too much about the test just focus and be quick.

many thanks

Mr Purple, you’re a star, thank you!
In my email it says the test is 20 minutes - is this in total for the two parts?

Thanks

#66

yes tm

20mins for the actual test consisting of both parts verbal and numerical. but they advise you to put aside around 35mins to do the practice test they give you just before the actual. you can bypass this if you want and go straight to the real test…

many thanks

Hi folks,

I have been asked to complete my psychometric tests this weekend, and i’m very nervous. I did a few online tests and only scored 50% (Psychometrix).

Does anyone have any tips for success? Also, i’m not great with numbers…

I have applied for a HR internship

Cheers!!!

Hi Tuma,

My interview was fine. I actually enjoyed it very much regardless of all the stress and tension beforehand. As you may already know the interview consists of two parts: technical and personal one. Which one you do first depends on chance as it is different for different candidates. I had technical interview first. First I was given well log to interpret. I am no specialist in the field but as they say, they are looking for intelligent people to train rather than somebody with specific knowledge. Everything was briefly explained to me, all the plots etc. and then I was asked what information about the well I can extract from these graphs. The next question was a simple exercise. The interviewer gave me a little lecture and then I was given the profile of well’s permeability and asked to draw the water saturation as a function of depth. These were the only two technical questions I got asked. I also talked about my PhD Thesis for a while.

The personal interview is somewhat more relaxed. I got asked all sorts of questions like why this post? What do I expect from the job? Give an example of dealing with difficult person. What difficulties I had to overcome to finish PhD? Give an example of leadership on your behalf. A lot on HR nonsense in my opinion, to be honest. You also get chance to ask them questions about the job.

BP promised to let us know interview outcome within a week but this didn’t happen. I phoned them two weeks after the interview and some chap said my application has’t been processed yet. Today is exactly a month after the interview and I still haven’t heard from them. I have now long assumed that I was unsuccessful and moved on to seek other jobs. I am little disappointed. I would expect recruitment teams within large companies like BP to be slightly more professional than that.

Hope this helps and that you’ll have more luck than I.

Thank you so much lord_kelwin for your candid answer !!!
Now I see a clear picture of an interview…and I do not see something very difficult and extraordinary-)…I firmly believe you passed it successfully!!! because if you were rejected, you would have been notified earlier. Fortunately, your application is still under the processing, which means you still have a chance to be employed!!! Thanks one more time!!! I hope one day we will meet each other working in BP! -lol-))) I wish you good luck!!!
