Big 4 vs big consultancy firms

I would like your opinion on work/life balance, salary, career progression, work enviroment of Big 4 compared to big consultancy firms. I have offers from EY Transaction services and Accenture IT Consulting. Should I be trying to land a job with BCG and likes?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Hello Metroid,

I think you’ll find that a career with the Big 4 will give you more flexibility after you get your ACA than a career with consulting, but both offer fantastic opportunities. Consulting will be more exciting in the first couple of years, and you’ll have the chance to actually add value to a client rather than checking internal calculations as with audit. However, when you get your ACA, the opportunities are abundant.

BCG et al don’t recruit many graduates, they tend to focus on MBAs for their recruitment needs.
