Now that Ripple is open source, what reason would a bank or financial institution have for using Ripple Labs version of Ripple rather than just creating their own instance of the software?
Couldn’t the Federal Reserve or a bunch of central banks decide that they would like to have a monopoly on a cryptocurrency and create a version from scratch where all the xrp-equivalents are owned by them? The xrp-equivalent could be used solely as a bank to bank currency.
Again, what would be the benefit of using Ripple Labs version vs this?
I didn’t find the right solution from the internet.
