2.2 with a PhD for graduate programme in investment banking

#1

Hi guys

I’m currently in the process of finishing my PhD, and trying to apply for graduate programmes at IB.
I have one major problem, I guess I got a bit unlucky, or maybe I didn’t work as hard as I should have… but narrowly missed out on a 2.1.
Luckily I managed to get onto a masters, graduated with a merit which helped me get onto a PhD programme. As most IB or consulting firms
specifically ask for a 2.1, does this mean I would automatically be rejected? I would greatly appreciate any advice on what I could do from here.

My friend, it appears I am in an IDENTICAL position to what you were in back in 2011. I have a 2.2 BSc Chemistry, an MSc (Merit) in Chemical Engineering and a PhD (almost completed) in Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials. I’d love to get into a finance of investment banking position. Do you have any advice?
